Law enforcement agencies and officers should send inquiries and legal process requests to: lawenforcement@marcopolo.me
These Guidelines are for law enforcement officials seeking records from Joya Communications Inc. DBA Marco Polo ("Joya") about users of Joya's Marco Polo mobile application. The information contained within these Guidelines was compiled to provide information about the legal process that Joya requires in order to disclose electronic information to law enforcement and government agencies. We disclose account records solely in accordance with our Terms of Service and applicable law, including the Electronic Communications Privacy Act ("ECPA"), 18 U.S.C. § 2701-2712. These Guidelines are intended to provide information, and do not constitute legal analysis or advice. Joya may update or change these terms at any time and without further notice.
1. How Marco Polo Works
Marco Polo is a mobile application by Joya and is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Marco Polo allows users to send videos (or "Polos") back and forth. It is designed to help people feel close. Additional information about Marco Polo can be found at our Marco Polo Support FAQ's page at support.marcopolo.me.
Polos
Users send and receive Polos in one-on-one or group conversations. Polos can be any length and are maintained on a user's account unless deleted.
Generally, Marco Polo stores Polos for approximately 13 months (the "Storage Period") for non-subscribers. If there is a Marco Polo Plus subscriber in a conversation, we store Polos and they are accessible to subscribers for as long as there is a subscriber in that conversation. However, if the sender chooses to delete their Polo/s, such Polos will be permanently deleted from our servers and no longer accessible. Polos that exceed the Storage Period and are not in a conversation that includes a subscriber will be permanently deleted from our servers.
Account Information
A user needs a valid phone number to register an account with Marco Polo. When registering an account, users select a first and last name and email address and have the option to upload a profile photo and connect with contacts from their device. We cannot look up users based on names or email addresses.
2. Records Maintained By Joya and the Legal Process Required To Obtain Them
